Was this your group’s first Green Team with Chicago Parks Foundation?
This was Stout’s first time partnering with the Chicago Parks Foundation for a volunteer event. Our Chicago Philanthropy Committee discovered the organization while looking for opportunities to support local parks, and it was a great fit with our goal of giving back to the communities where we live and work.
How does your organization’s mission relate to the volunteer work you've done with Chicago Parks Foundation?
One of Stout’s core values is being positive and team oriented, and this event reflected that perfectly. It gave colleagues in different groups across the firm an opportunity to work together outside the office, while making a meaningful impact in the Chicago community.
Highlights from the day:
After receiving instructions from the Chicago Parks Foundation team, everyone naturally stepped into different roles to get the job done.
Some filled wheelbarrows, others spread fresh woodchips throughout the playground, and everyone pitched in wherever help was needed.
One of the most rewarding moments came at the end of the morning when children began arriving to play in the playground we had just finished improving. We all agreed that seeing families immediately enjoy the space afterwards made all of the hard work worthwhile.
