The Chicago Parks Foundation provides volunteer groups with supplies and support to independently host clean-ups at any of Chicago’s 600+ parks.

In 2020, the CPF launched our first ever citywide volunteer park clean-up initiative. Thanks to outstanding community enthusiasm, the effort has quickly grown and we have supported thousands of volunteers for hundreds of clean-up events!

Our PIFTP season runs June through October, kicking off with It’s Your Park Day on June 1st. Host registration is open now! Get started below.

Pitch In for the Parks is generously supported by Presenting Sponsor Chicago Association of REALTORS®, and in part by Boxed Water and Move-Tastic.

Host a Clean-Up Group

To host a PIFTP clean-up, you'll independently lead small volunteer groups in simple 1-2 hour trash pick-ups.

  • You pick the park and dates (June 1st earliest).

  • Help us cover as much park ground as possible by committing to recurring dates June thru October, ex. weekly.

  • Gather your own pals for your clean-up and DIY, or choose for your clean-up to be listed as a public event on our platform for additional volunteers to register to join you.

  • In advance of your event date(s), the CPF delivers complimentary supplies to you - trash bags, gloves, and water (opt-in). Then you lead the clean-up(s) independently and report back to us as needed for support!

Join a Clean-Up Event

Interested in joining a clean-up rather than hosting one?

You will find public clean-up groups seeking participants below!

Just complete your free online registration so the host group knows to expect you.

PIFTP events will display below for volunteer registration later this spring.

Please note, the CPF does not organize Pitch In for the Parks events on Earth Day. We look forward to working with you the rest of the season (June-October)!
