The Osaka Garden

Discover the Osaka Garden. A Living Bridge Between Japan and Chicago.

Join us in shaping the next chapter of a living legacy – a garden with over 130 years of history. A transformative revitalization and expansion is underway, with plans to nearly double the garden’s size and introduce innovative enhancements to this cherished space.

Jackson Park’s Osaka Garden is regarded as the most historically significant Japanese garden in the U.S. Created for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, it introduced generations of Chicagoans to Japanese artistry and philosophy unlike anything many had ever experienced.

Today it welcomes thousands of visitors a year, anchoring a vibrant cultural campus on the South Side together with the new Obama Presidential Center and the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry. It has become a place where Chicago and Japan continue a conversation begun more than a century ago.

And now, that conversation enters its next chapter. The next 130 years of Osaka Garden will be written by those who choose to invest in it today.

The Chicago Parks Foundation is proud to serve as the 501c3 fiscal partner to bring this restoration and expansion project to completion along with the Chicago Park District. Join us today.

Together we are not simply supporting a garden.

We are cultivating a legacy.
