Our Pitch In for the Parks season of citywide park clean-ups runs June through October each year. We kicked it all off on May 30th, 2026 with a special citywide event called It's Your Park Day (IYPD).

Chicago Parks Foundation thanks the PACs, partners, alderpeople, and community members who got outside to a neighborhood park and made an impact. Activities went beyond just trash pick-up and also included planting, painting, gardening, cleanup, cultural performances, food, fun – and lots of hard work!
10 groups mulched trees and 12 groups replenished their playground's woodchips. Special thanks to Chicago Park District's Mike Brown and the grounds team.
All of these parks are refreshed and ready for an incredible summer season ahead!
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER IYPD?
We keep pitching in - and we hope you'll join us!
IYPD kicks off our Pitch In for the Parks (PIFTP) program running June through October. Just like IYPD, we provide hosting PIFTP groups with complimentary supplies to independently host trash pick-ups - but PIFTP events can be at the park, date(s), and time(s) of your choice June-October.
Or, organize a Green Teams volunteer event for your corporate group at a park in need!
