SAVE THE DATE JUNE 1, 2024

YOUR Park, YOUR Day, Celebrate in any way!

Our Pitch In for the Parks season of citywide park clean-ups runs June through October each year. We kick it all off the first weekend of June with a special event called It's Your Park Day.

It’s Your Park Day is a community clean-up day across dozens of Chicago parks! Most groups will spend their event doing a trash pick-up. Events hosted by Park Advisory Councils (PACs) may include additional activities like tree mulching, playground fibar replenishment, and more.

Free, fun, family-friendly - and happening at a park near you!

It’s Your Park Day is generously supported by Presenting Sponsor Chicago Association of REALTORS®, and in part by Boxed Water and Move-Tastic.

Host an IYPD Event at YOUR Park!

WHO CAN HOST IT’S YOUR PARK DAY?

The short answer is… anyone! It’s Your Park Day hosting is extended to the community. Host registration happens in phases.

Now through April 23rd, Park Advisory Councils have a priority window to register to host It’s Your Park Day. Hosting PACs have the opportunity to lead extra activities like tree mulching and fibar replenishment.

After 4/23, public community members (i.e. non-PAC groups) can register to host IYPD at parks of their choice for trash pick-up events (no additional projects).

If a PAC has already claimed that park before 4/23, CPF will connect the interested group with that PAC to collaborate for the event. If the park is unclaimed, CPF will connect the two groups to see if the PAC is interested in participating by teaming up to host the optional additional activities (mulch and fibar).

WHAT IS MY ROLE AS A HOST?

Hosts promote the CPF-created volunteer registration, receive CPF-delivered supplies, coordinate with the CPF team to ensure your event is a success, and independently lead your event on June 1st. All IYPD events are open to the public to join as volunteers.

WHAT SUPPLIES DO I RECEIVE?

  • PACs: Trash bags, gloves, water, promotional signage + optional mulch, fibar and tools for additional projects

  • Everyone Else: Trash bags, gloves, water, promotional signage

Host registration opens to the public on 4/23/24.

Join as a Volunteer

Interested in joining a clean-up rather than hosting one? You will find IYPD groups seeking participants below! Just complete your free online registration so the host group knows to expect you.

Volunteering is open to all! Free, fun, family-friendly!

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER IYPD?

We keep pitching in - and we hope you'll join us!

IYPD kicks off our Pitch In for the Parks (PIFTP) program running June through October. Just like IYPD, we provide hosting PIFTP groups with complimentary supplies to independently host trash pick-ups - but PIFTP events can be at the park, date(s), and time(s) of your choice June-Oct. Or organize a Green Teams clean-up event for your corporate group at a park in need!
