Special Projects

The Chicago Parks Foundation works collaboratively with our city's communities and the Chicago Park District to help make special park projects happen. We often take on the role of "fiscal sponsor" for individuals, businesses, and organizations who want to make an impact on the parks but do not have their own 501c3 status. Thanks to a generous grant from the Pritzker Foundation in honor of Bryan Traubert, CPF worked with Park Advisory Councils, Park Supervisors, and community members to resurface existing tennis courts and convert tennis courts into other types of sport courts. Work has been completed at Blackhawk, Sauganash, Dunbar, McGuane, Grand Crossing, and Russell Square Parks, totaling more than fifteen beautifully updated tennis courts, two artificial turf fields, and two multi-sport courts.

CPF partnered with America's Cup Endeavor Program to bring youth sailing to Chicago. The program launched in Spring 2016 during the Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series at Navy Pier with a mission of providing Chicago students ages 8-15 hands-on experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) through the sport of sailing. AC Endeavor Chicago offers this unique curriculum both on and off the STEM water labs through field trips and after-school, summer, and teen programs. Visit AC Endeavor's site to learn more.
