Thank you to the Pritzker Foundation for making the Take the Court initiative possible!
This past year, the Chicago Parks Foundation has been working with our communities to enhance their parks. The “Take the Court” initiative works with Park Advisory Councils, Park Supervisors and others in the community to either resurface tennis courts or convert the courts to mini artificial turf fields or multi-sport courts.
This initiative was made possible through a generous grant from the Pritzker Foundation in honor of the Chicago Park District’s previous president of the Board of Commissioners, Dr. Bryan Traubert.
In the past six months, the Chicago Parks Foundation has completed work at Blackhawk, Sauganash, Dunbar, McGuane, Grand Crossing and Russell Square Parks totaling more than 15 beautiful tennis courts, two artificial turf fields and two multi-sport courts.Other parks are in the works for 2017 including Tuley Park which will be funded by a generous gift coordinated by the United States Tennis Association, Harold Washington Park and others that are in discussion now with funders.
